Confucius Statue and Confucius Cultural Park
(Kuala Lumpur / ChiShang) — Dr Kevin Ng, President of One Belt One Road Certified Institute (OBORCI), was honoured to be invited to attend the unveiling ceremony of the Confucius Statue and Confucius Cultural Park in ChiShang, TaiTung, on 28th September 2025, coinciding with Teachers’ Day.
The inauguration brought together a broad assemblage of guests, including representatives from the Australian Confucius Research Association, officials from the TaiTung County Government, and leading figures from the education and cultural sectors. The new cultural park is conceived as a living tribute to Confucian heritage and a practical platform for promoting traditional learning, arts and rural education initiatives.
At the ceremony Dr Kevin Ng engaged in substantive discussions with academics, cultural custodians and government delegates on opportunities for cross-border educational cooperation and cultural exchange. He emphasised that Confucian thought—grounded in ethics, civic responsibility and lifelong learning—retains direct relevance to contemporary challenges and can inform initiatives in education, community development and social cohesion.
Dr Kevin Ng also reflected on the role of cultural infrastructure in supporting local education: by combining heritage preservation with outreach and learning programmes, the Confucius Cultural Park can help stimulate interest in classical learning while providing tangible benefits to surrounding rural communities..
OBORCI reaffirmed its commitment to act as a facilitating platform for international academic and cultural partnerships. Dr Kevin Ng noted that such partnerships – when underpinned by mutual respect and shared objectives – can contribute to broader Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by strengthening education, fostering cultural understanding and enabling practical collaboration between institutions.
OBORCI looks forward to further collaborative projects that bridge cultural heritage, education and social development, and to supporting initiatives that create meaningful, long-term benefits for communities in Taiwan, Malaysia and beyond.
