If the federation builds an undersea cable, sand can also transmit electricity to West Malaysia

KUCHING, Jan 7 — Sarawak Prime Minister Datuk Batinggi Abang Johari said Sarawak could also transmit electricity to West Malaysia if the federal government agrees to build an undersea cable.

He said that the sand is currently delivering electricity to Kalimantan, Indonesia, and is also in talks with Singapore to send up to 1000,<> megawatts of electricity to the new country. However, West Malaysia mentioned why Sarawak is not transmitting electricity to West Malaysia?

In view of this, he pointed out to the federal government that Sarawak could also transmit electricity to West Malaysia, but the federal government would need to build an undersea cable first.

He mentioned that 40% of West Malaysia’s electricity comes from coal power plants, while up to 70% of Sarawak’s electricity comes from hydroelectric power, and that the current three dams, namely Batang Ai, Bagun and Mulun, together with the upcoming Batam dams, have the potential to produce up to 3,2 megawatts of electricity.
